May the Lord truly bless you as you search to become evermore mature in your Christian faith, bearing testament in all you do, that others may come to know the liberty and power of salvation in and through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Music is such a beautiful part of life - The way in which a song can bring about nostalgia, stir up so many different emotions, bring calm and peace after a busy day or my personal favourite, just make you feel like dancing.

Within every music type lies some form of communication and expression. The unfortunate reality is that the messages being conveyed in modern music today are far removed from the beautiful truths that the Lord wants us to hold onto in our everyday lives.

How beautifully refreshing it was, to be driving the other morning, with the radio on, when a very familiar song by one of our favourite Christian artists, Lauren Daigle began to play. “You Say” is her lead single on her latest album “Look up child”. It has just been released and has already topped the charts on the American billboards and reached number 1 on numerous Christian charts. Immediately I felt a sense of pride and excitement (as if Lauren and I were besties, and she had accomplished something amazing) – Why is that?

Well, in a generation where the messages being conveyed are telling us that our value is found in success, money, relationships and a detrimental amount of self-love, here is a Christian artist who has stayed true to keeping the Lord at the focal point of her music career and the message she is getting out there (like really getting out there) is that every aspect of our identity and worth is found in Christ alone. Whether we fail or thrive, He is in control and He is our strength – We are HIS!! How awesome is that?

At the very same time, well known secular artist Avril Lavigne, has returned from a long break with a new worship song called “Head above water” (which is also playing on our local radio stations.) After battling with a devastating illness, Lavigne says that she found hope in the Lord and drew her strength in relying solely on Him. What a beautiful testimony.

To be uplifted personally by each of these artists is so encouraging. It inspires me to constantly keep my focus on what the Lord wants for my life. Isn’t that what worship is? In our new morning series, we have been reminded to live a faith-filled life. That means that our Christian walk is not reserved for a Sunday, it means that we want to be constantly aware of the Lord’s leading in our lives and open to His will. Music can be a beautiful part of your journey with the Lord - a continuous reminder of the Scripture’s unfailing truths and Christ’s unconditional love.
